Top 7 most romantic movies ever

What is the most romantic movie ever? Time to find out!
Let's face it... Life can be pretty intense sometimes, and there's nothing quite like a properly romantic movie to get rid of the blues. Who doesn't love, love, right? Well, here at Roadshow we're frankly a little obsessed with everything romantic, so we've compiled this foolproof list of romantic movies for you to dive into. Grab a box of tissues and settle in, folks. This one is gonna get a little teary.

7. Notting Hill

Hugh Grant plays the hapless owner of a travel bookstore in Notting Hill, England, and one day has to contend with the biggest movie star in the world wandering into his shop... And his life. Notting Hill brilliantly casts Julia Roberts as a version of herself, and gives her a lot of wonderful, tragic and moving stuff to deal with. It's kind of the perfect romantic comedy - nobody does it quite like the Brits.

6. When Harry Met Sally

Ever have that one friend you think could turn into something more? When Harry Met Sally is a smart, sexy rom-com about the hazards of potentially ruining a good thing by introducing sex into the equation. Meg Ryan and Billy Crystal are electric, and Carrie Fisher is brilliant as always. Also... There's that iconic diner scene. You know the one.

5. Jerry Maguire

This may be hard to believe, but there was a point where Tom Cruise was a genuine heartthrob. No, seriously! And Jerry Maguire was the peak, with him making people swoon as he passionately declared "you... Complete me"' to a blushing Renee Zellweger. It's a great movie about learning to deal with failure and find love, and it holds up to this day.

4. Amelie

Amelie is iconic for a reason. It introduced the world to the doe-eyed Audrey Tatou, it has an unforgettable soundtrack, and it put the Parisian suburb of Montmartre on the map for the rest of the world. It's all about a girl who helps the people around her and discovers love along the way.

3. 10 Things I Hate About You

This is the film that made the entire world fall in love with Heath Ledger. It's also an adaptation of Shakespeare's The Taming of the Shrew, and you'd be hard pressed to find a more heart-warming and profoundly funny slice of pure nineties nostalgia. It had Julia Stiles, the girl from Alex Mack, a young Joseph Gordon Levitt... Heck, even CJ from The West Wing is in there!

2. Sense and Sensibility

Look, we had to put something from Jane Austen in here. And who can look past the unbridled romance and passion of Alan Rickman's barely suppressed move for Emma Thompson? Seriously, this period drama (well, it's kind of a comedy, too) is romantic down to its very bones, and also stars Kate Winslet just after she'd made a splash in Titanic.

And speaking of Titanic, here we are. Who could deny that Titanic, the movie that sank competition and remains an icon of modern cinema, isn't super romantic? It has everything. A rich girl falling for a poor boy, scandal, tragedy, a murderous Billy Zane, and a door that absolutely could have held two people. What a tearjerker.
