Movies that got the sequel wrong

The sequels nobody asked for.
7. Riddick (2013)

In a trilogy that started so strong, Riddick leaves a lot to be desired. However, faithful fans consider the final instalment, as well as its predecessor, Chronicles of Riddick, to be cult classics. But neither come close to the amazing original – so just watch Pitch Black instead, okay?

6. The Last Exorcism Pt II (2013)

First of all, you can’t name a movie ‘the last’ anything AND THEN HAVE A PART TWO. The flawed title is just the tip of the iceberg in this messy continuation of the far better (and scarier) original.

5. Alien Vs Predator: Requiem (2007)

It’s clear AVP2 put a lot of money into makeup, special effects, sets… but it seems they forgot to hire a lighting department? This sequel is hard to criticise only cause you can’t see anything.

4. Spider-Man 3 (2007)

They say you either die a hero or live long enough to see yourself become the villain. Well, the latter, is the fate that befalls Tobey Maguire’s Spiderman. It’s a idea that sounds cool on paper, watching the hero ‘break bad’ – we just wish it hadn’t involved an emo makeover and finger guns *shudders*

3. Grease 2 (1982)

Why? Just why? It’s just Grease again but less good. The musical numbers that made up the charm of the first one are forgettable and uninspired. So what did Olivia Newton-John, the original Sandy think of the remake? ‘Not a lot.’ Dang.

2. Batman & Robin (1997)

Before Batman was all glossy and brooding he was a bit of a dork. Full of campy one-liners and an outfit not even George Clooney could pull off, this unfortunate sequel put the ick in schtick. Holy bat-nipples Batman!

1. Jaws: The Revenge (1987)

When watching Jaws: The Revenge it’s hard to decide what the creators knew less about: making films or how sharks work. There are dream sequences, the plot is non-existent and worse of all, the shark…roars. Sadder still, is Michael Caine missed accepting his Academy Award (for Hannah and Her Sisters) because of his commitment to this film. Jaws: The Revenge is dead in the water.
