Your old TV faves are getting a reboot

Everything old is new again in Hollywood with a slew of retro TV offerings heading our way.
Here’s what we’re expecting from the latest reboots and revivals:

Karate Kid

80s heartthrob Ralph Macchio is back for a new Karate Kid TV series for YouTube’s Red channel, titled Cobra Kai. More than three decades after the original had us all waxing-on, waxing off and leaping into white crane pose, Macchico will reappear as a down-and-out Daniel LaRusso, with his arch rival William Zabka reprising his role as Johnny Lawrence. The half hour comedy series will pick up thirty years after the events of the 1984 All Valley Karate Tournament with Daniel and William now operating rival karate dojos.

Roseanne

The smash 90s TV series Roseanne is returning in 2018 for more pizza nights and trips to Walmart. The Big Bang Theory star Johnny Galecki is in talks to re-join the Conner gang as David (Darlene and Becky’s on-again-off-again boyfriend). Original cast members include Roseanne Barr, John Goodman (Dan), Sara Gilbert (Darlene), Laurie Metcalf (Jackie), Michael Fishman (DJ), Lecy Goranson (Becky) and Sarah Chalke (the other Becky). The eight-episode reboot will ignore that Dan Conner died of a heart attack in the finale, and capture the spirit of the original seasons.

Arrested Development

The Bluth Family is back in 2018 for a fifth dysfunctional season, currently in production for Netflix. Original cast member Jason Bateman has signed on to play exasperated straight man Michael Bluth, along with his son George Michael (Michael Cera) and kooky wealthy relatives played by Jeffrey Tambor, Jessica Walter, Will Arnett, Tony Hale, Portia de Rossi, David Cross and Alia Shawkat.

Dynasty

Audiences were glued to the big hair, shoulder pads power soap Dynasty, lapping up the dramas of two feuding oil-rich Coloradan families; the Carringtons and the Colbys. Dynasty is returning to TV later in 2017 in a younger, hipper CW series, but expect the same fashion, catfights, ruthless ambition and family fall-outs of the original. Legendary Alexis (Joan Collins) is also rumoured to be making an appearance.
