Star Wars! A Wrinkle in Time! Avengers! Disney, Marvel and Lucasfilms fans are frothing with excitement over the huge reveals from this weekend’s massive D23 conference.
Here’s the highlight reel from a breathtaking drop of new trailers, behind-the-scenes teasers and surprise star appearances.

Mary Poppins Returns

Emily Blunt will play super nanny Mary Poppins, revealing she wasn’t inspired by Julie Andrews in the reboot of the classic 1964 musical. “No one is going to ‘out Julie Andrews’ Julie Andrews,” Blunt jokes, saying she only watched 15 minutes of the original movie. Blunt is joined by Colin Firth, Meryl Streep and veteran director Rob Marshall. Look out for retro stars Angela Lansbury as the Balloon Lady, and Dick Van Dyke as Mr. Dawes Jr., the retired chairman of the bank.

Star Wars: The Last Jedi

An action packed behind-the-scenes teaser trailer thrilled Star Wars fans with a first look at the late Carrie Fischer as General Leia, along with glimpses of new cast members Laura Dern, Benicio Del Toro and Kelly Marie Tran. Expect a focus on family ties as well as a return of the Millennium Falcon, Daisy Ridley, evil Kylo Ren and lots of freaky new creatures.

Get ready to bend the space-time continuum in Disney’s big budget adaption of Madeleine L’Engle’s enduring children’s novel, with Oprah Winfrey playing a time travel guide, alongside Reese Witherspoon and Mindy Kaling. A new trailer promises epic special effects and the introduction of teen newcomer, Storm Reid, as Meg Murry. As director Ava DuVernay put it:“It’s a family story wrapped in an epic adventure where you see worlds you’ve never seen before.”

Avengers Infinity War

Want even more superheroes? A new teaser trailer featured footage of just about every crime fighter in the Marvel stable battling Josh Brolin’s mega villain, Thanos including fan favourites Spiderman, Tony Stark and Thor.

More buzz…

Jon Favreau’s live action version of The Lion King is roaring ahead, starring Donald Glover as Simba and James Earl Jones as Mufasa. Aussie Hugh Jackman is rumored to be skulking into the cast as Scar. Expect eye-popping CGI animals and a tear-jerking storyline.

After rumours they were struggling to cast the role, Guy Ritchie’s Aladdin has announced newcomer Mena Massoud will take the title role, Naomi Scott has been cast as Princess Jasmine and Will Smith will appear in a puff of smoke to play the Genie. Our wish has been granted.
