The directorial debut of Spanish screenwriter Luis Berdejo, The New Daughter is based on the short story of the same name by John Connolly. The New Daughter tells the story of a novelist, John James (Kevin Costner) and his two children who encounter a malevolent presence when they move to a house in the country adjacent to a burial mound. Soon after, John’s daughter begins acting strangely, and the household is plagued by disturbing events. John begins to think his daughter's changed behaviour might have something to do with a burial ground near his property.
